In a flurry of announcements by the Government on transport spending, its claims of support levels to buses have been called into question. Concerns that Bus Service Improvement Plans (BSIP) had been raided for other purposes seem to be confirmed by the scheme allocations.
BSIPs will get far less than the £3bn (over five years) that the prime minister pledged last year when launching the National Bus Strategy. The true amount seems to be closer to £1.4bn.
