Metronet boss fired as company receives £1m penalty fine

London Underground maintenance company Metronet sacked its maintenance chief this week as the company came under increasing criticism from Transport for London and Her Majesty's Railway Inspectorate. Transport commissioner Peter Hendy called for an emergency meeting with Metronet's chief executives after speed restrictions were twice imposed on the District and Metropolitan lines because Metronet had failed to complete routine maintenance on the track.
