The DfT lacks a convincing and timely plan for encouraging passengers back to the railway as part of Covid-19 recovery, according a report from the Public Accounts Committee.
In a highly critical document MPs have express concern over plans to encourage people back to rail travel. Current plans, they say, don’t reflect the urgency required to avoid an increase in car use, which could undermine the decarbonisation of transport required to meet net zero commitments.
