Labour pledges default 20mph limit

A Labour Government in Scotland would consult on changing the default speed limit on restricted roads from 30mph to 20mph. 

The Labour Government in Wales is already proceeding with the change. 

A Green MSP Member’s Bill promoting a default 20mph limit was rejected by the Scottish Parliament in 2019.  

Scottish Labour pledges to increase active travel spend to make up ten per cent of the transport budget, though it does not give a date by when this would be achieved....
