Modal shift and road traffic demand management will be vital to achieving Transport for the North’s proposed 55 per cent cut to surface transport CO2 emissions in the region by 2030.
The target, to be monitored against a 2018 baseline, features in TfN’s new draft decarbonisation strategy. It proposes that CO2 emissions should be reduced by 95 per cent by 2045 and close to zero by 2050.
