The Government should launch long-term trials of hydrogen trucks and electric road systems (ERS) to evaluate their potential to decarbonise heavy road freight, says the Connected Places Catapult.
Hydrogen and ERS are the only two choices for decarbonising heavy goods vehicles, says the Catapult. ERS involves fitting overhead catenary to roads and vehicles drawing electricity via a pantograph mounted on the roof (LTT 07 Aug 20).
