BSOG reforms to end fossil fuel subsidy

Bus Service Operator Grant (BSOG) is to be reformed in England, bringing to an end what the DfT describes as a “fossil fuel subsidy”. 

Almost £260m a year is paid in BSOG to operators of eligible bus services and community transport organisations.

The grant comprises a core element to recover some of their fuel costs – a fuel duty rebate – and incentive-related payments.
