New law for socially necessary services?

The Government could impose a statutory requirement on local authorities in England to provide socially necessary bus services if more services are not delivered through voluntary means. 

New guidance is being prepared for councils “on the meaning and role of ‘socially necessary’ services”.

This will expand the category to include ‘economically necessary’ services for the first time.
