Court rules against council car park plan

A community group in Manchester has won a court case against Manchester City Council’s plan to turn a disused city centre retail park into a temporary 440-space car park. 

In 2019 the council’s planning committee approved a plan to use the Central Retail Park on Great Ancoats Street for a car park for up to two years. Trees Not Cars mounted a judicial review challenge against the plan. The car park would have been located next to a primary school.
