Remote-controlled scooters

05 February 2021

Spin, the micromobility subsidiary of Ford Motor Company, has signed an exclusive partnership with software company Tortoise to bring remotely-operated e-scooters to cities in Europe and North America in 2021. The scooters, co-developed with Segway Ninebot, can be remotely controlled to ensure they are parked in designated locations. The technology will also eventually make it possible for a rider to “hail” an e-scooter to a desired pick-up location. The first fleet of S-200 scooters will be piloted in Boise, Idaho this spring.
