Transport for London is finalising an agreement with the Government for £281m of Housing Infrastructure Fund (HIF) grant for the Docklands Light Railway. Meanwhile, a study is to get underway into extending the DLR to Thamesmead on the south bank of the River Thames.
The HIF funding will pay for:
14 three-car DLR trains (increasing the current rolling stock replacement programme with Spanish manufacturer CAF from 43 to 57 trainsets)
expansion of Beckton DLR depot
