The use of tyres aged more than 10 years old on commercial and public service vehicles is to become illegal in the UK. The ban, which comes into force on 1 February 2021, also applies to all single wheels of minibuses (9 to 16 passenger seats).
The new legislation covers England, Scotland and Wales and will affect tyres fitted on the front axle of a goods vehicle with a maximum gross weight exceeding 3,500k; a bus, coach or minibus; the rear axle of a minibus with single rear wheels fitted.
