Sales of new petrol and diesel cars will be banned from 2030, the Prime Minister has announced, though sales of new hybrid cars and vans will be permitted until 2035.

The proposal was the most eye-catching element of Boris Johnson’s ten-point plan for a ‘green industrial revolution’ unveiled last week.
