The London Borough of Wandsworth has hailed the impact of weekend closures of  high streets to vehicular traffic, saying the actions boosted trade in the cafes, restaurants and bars. 

Wandsworth introduced temporary pedestrianisation schemes this summer on three high streets – Old York Road, Northcote Road, and Bedford Hill.
