Low traffic neighbourhoods: wrongly blamed for jams

Regarding the letter from the Richardsons about the London Borough of Lewisham’s low traffic neighbourhoods (LTNs) (Letters LTT 02 Oct), they are wrong to say LTNs are undemocratic and wrong to blame them for congestion. 

Lewisham consulted extensively on the details of its schemes before going ahead and a clear majority of residents were in favour of street closures. Furthermore, ‘rat running’ along unsuitable residential streets is an issue that our elected politicians...
