Modelling doesn’t identify best cycle routes to upgrade

If transport minister Chris Heaton Harris really wants to encourage councils to do more for cycling he should get rid of the bureaucratic barriers that delay good schemes being implemented for years if not get them cancelled altogether (LTT 21 August).

Foremost of which is traffic modelling – note this is only a forecast and not ‘fact’.  Models are biased 5:1 against cyclists, and based on 30-year-old assumptions that were out-dated long before Covid-19 and are clearly...
