Buses and council vehicles in Kent are to start collecting data about potholes in a technology trial. Detection equipment has been fitted to 12 highways vans and eight Arriva buses and is due to begin collecting data this month. “There will be an ongoing process of developing the detection algorithm for around six months with productive output being available around March 2021,” reported officers. The project is part of the Smart Places Live Lab project being run by the Association of Directors of Environment, Economy, Planning and Transport (ADEPT) and the DfT.
