The heavily delayed project to utilise redundant Thameslink electric trains on non-electrified railways is nearing fruition, with Northern and Transport for Wales both preparing to introduce the first Class 769 units to service at the May timetable change.
Northern has commenced crew training and hopes to be able to bring one or two of the four-car trains into use before the timetable change.
