Edinburgh’s rapid transit plan

The City of Edinburgh Council has put the troubled delivery of the city’s first tram line behind it, with a new report identifying the priorities for new tram and bus rapid transit routes.

Four priority corridors for extending Edinburgh’s tram network or building bus rapid transit (BRT) routes are identified in a new report for the council by consultants Steer and Jacobs. Its publication comes as work proceeds to extend the first tram line between the airport and city centre to Newhaven in the north of the city, with services expected to commence in 2023.
