The Urban Transport Group has commissioned consultant WSP to develop a new Metropolitan Bus Model.
The UTG said the model would help city regions plan the future of their bus networks by forecasting how factors such as population, employment, car ownership, service levels, fares and public funding could influence patronage.
The model is expected to be operational this spring and will replace a model that has been used since 2011.
