Parties appeal for votes with huge pledges on bus and rail

HS2 looks certain to be given the green light after the General Election with Labour, the Liberal Democrats and Conservative Prime Minister Boris Johnson all indicating their support for the project this week.

The £88bn project is currently the subject of a Government review. Labour and the Liberal Democrats both, however, back the project in their manifestos for the General Election on 12 December. Labour would extend the high-speed network to Scotland.
