Motorway fatalities up by 19%

The number of people killed in road traffic accidents on Great Britain’s motorways in 2018 rose by 19% to 92, in comparison with the previous year, new data from the DfT says. The total number of fatalities on the roads, at 1,671, was approximately unchanged from the previous year, due primarily to a 5% decrease in fatalities on ‘non built-up roads’, which fell to 795. Fatalities on ‘built-up roads’, meanwhile, rose by 3% to 784.
