Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham has unveiled his vision to transform rail travel across the city region.
Within the next 10 years he wants to see longer trains, with eight car trains and longer platforms and more double trams operating across the Metrolink tram/light rail network.
Metrolink would be expanded through new branches, extensions, conversions of National Rail lines and tram-train technology.
