Surrey County Council is to raise the speed limit on a section of road where the police recorded 93.5 per cent of drivers breaking the law.
The speed limit on a section of the A25 Godstone Road was cut from 50mph to 30mph in 2012. A police survey in 2018 found mean speeds were 41mph in one direction and 37mph in the other.
Surrey County Council has now approved raising the limit to 40mph, despite opposition from its Tandridge local committee.
