Local authorities in the west of England and south Wales on the M4/M5 corridors plan to form a Great Western Powerhouse alliance to lobby for investment.
Swindon’s Conservative leader David Renard told colleagues the core group of councils currently involved were Swindon, Gloucester, Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, Newport, Cardiff and Swansea. Other councils and local enterprise partnerships would be invited to join.
