The price of a house in London is on average £42,900 higher if located 500 metres from a station compared with a similar property located 1.5km from a station, according to the Nationwide house price index. 

Nationwide’s analysis also looked at the effect of station proximity in Greater Manchester and the Strathclyde Partnership for Transport areas. In both cases it found an influence on house prices, albeit to a lesser extent than in London. In Greater Manchester the...
