The Government should give local highway authorities in England a five-year funding deal for road maintenance, the House of Commons transport committee said this week.
The committee’s report on road maintenance says the DfT should ask the Treasury, as part of the spending review, for a “front-loaded, long-term funding settlement” to “address the historic road maintenance backlog and plan confidently for the future”.
