Battery train trial studied for Far North Line

The feasibility of a battery-powered train operation in the far north of Scotland is being explored by HITRANS, the Highlands and Islands regional transport partnership.

The RTP is procuring a study to explore if there is a business case for a service between Wick and Thurso, the terminals of the two Far North Line branches that meet at Georgemas Junction.
