Walsall and Wolverhampton line could reopen to passengers by 2021

Two new stations could be stops for passenger trains on a new service linking Wolverhampton and Walsall. The line was open to passengers in 1998 but there was not enough patronage and it was subsequently closed in 2008. Currently only freight trains run on the Wolverhampton to Walsall line.

West Midlands Railway, which will run the trains, plans to open stations at Darlaston and Willenhall by 2021.

The current aspiration is that the new stops would form an extension of the current Birmingham...
