Slough eyes Windsor rail line conversion to rapid transit

The Slough to Windsor & Eton Central rail branch could be converted to become part of a mass rapid transit (MRT) system under plans being developed by Slough Borough Council. 

The 2.8-mile single track branch is part of the Great Western Railway franchise, with trains operating to a 20-minute frequency. 

But a new report for Slough Borough Council by consultant SNC Lavalin Atkins proposes that the branch should form part of a mass transit network for the borough.
