The Slough to Windsor & Eton Central rail branch could be converted to become part of a mass rapid transit (MRT) system under plans being developed by Slough Borough Council.
The 2.8-mile single track branch is part of the Great Western Railway franchise, with trains operating to a 20-minute frequency.
But a new report for Slough Borough Council by consultant SNC Lavalin Atkins proposes that the branch should form part of a mass transit network for the borough.
