Public transport campaigner Simon Norton has died from a heart attack at the age of 66. A mathematical genius, Norton worked at the University of Cambridge until 1985, after which he devoted much of his life to transport campaigning. He was active with the Campaign for Better Transport and groups in the Cambridgeshire area. He donated about £3m to the Foundation for Integrated Transport, of which he was the chair of trustees.
