There is strong private sector interest in delivering new rail links to Heathrow Airport from the west and the south, consultants have told the Government. 

The DfT appointed consultants Agilia and Nichols to hold market sounding exercises on both projects last summer.

The western rail link is the more advanced of the two. The project involves building a four-mile line to connect Heathrow to Slough and Reading and beyond. From the west, the line would leave the Great Western Main Line...
