Consultants start work on next stage of Wisbech rail revival

Cambridgeshire County Council has appointed Mott MacDonald to prepare a business case for re-opening the March-Wisbech railway.

The Wisbech line closed to passengers in 1968 and to freight in 2000. Re-opening would support housing and employment growth in the town, including the plan for a garden village on the west side of the town providing 10,000 to 12,000 homes.
