A £15.4m plan to improve the public realm in front of York’s railway station has moved forward, with councillors approving the submission of a full planning application.
The project includes removing the Queen Street Road Bridge that carries the city’s inner ring road and rebuilding the road at grade. The Victorian bridge was built when trains used the lines through to the old railway station, and so has been redundant since the 1960s.
