The Scottish Government’s bus reforms will do little to arrest the recent sharp decline in passenger numbers seen in the west of Scotland, Strathclyde Partnership for Transport has told the Scottish Parliament. 

The Transport (Scotland) Bill includes a number of new bus powers including Bus Service Improvement Partnerships, franchising, and the explicit ability for councils to operate local bus services directly or via an arm’s-length company (LTT 22 Jun).
