The DfT has authorised the release of £45m Local Growth Fund grant towards the £90m cost of a new bypass for Congleton promoted by Cheshire East Council. The 3.5-mile road will connect the A534 west of the town with the A536 to the north, improving access between the M6 and Macclesfield.
