Transport secretary Chris Grayling has decided against splitting up the Great Western Railway franchise.
The present franchise combines InterCity, regional and Thames Valley commuter services previously operated by three franchises. In a consultation on the next franchise published earlier this year, the DfT said one possible option was a separate franchise for all GWR services south-west of Bristol.
