Cumbria County Council wants the Government to provide more than £100m towards the estimated £111.6m cost of a new link road round the south of Carlisle, which could facilitate a major housing development.
The Carlisle Southern Link Road would connect junction 42 of the M6 with the A595 Carlisle-Cockermouth road, facilitating the proposed St Cuthbert’s Garden Village with 10,000 homes.
