Costain has been awarded the design and build contract to improve the A40 between the A478 at Penblewin roundabout and Slebech Park. The 9km single carriageway road's lanes will be widened to provide overtaking opportunities and improve safety. The scheme includes a bypass for Robeston Wathen and a replacement bridge over the River Cleddau. Work could start in 2007, subject to a possible public inquiry, and take two years to complete.
