The DfT is gauging private sector interest in two new rail links to Heathrow Airport, from the west and the south.
The four-mile western rail link would leave the Great Western main line (GWML) between Langley and Iver and run in tunnel to Heathrow Terminal 5, where it would join up with the existing railway from London.
