Leeds City Council is to accelerate the roll-out of 20mph speed limits across residential streets. Until now the council has been targeting implementation of the lower limits on streets in the vicinity of schools, with supporting traffic calming measures where necessary. There are still 90 residential areas with 30mph limits and the council estimates it would take four years to complete their conversion to 20mph at the current pace of delivery.
