Ministers approve case for rolling out lane rental powers

Highway authorities across England will be able to apply to introduce lane rental charges on road and utility works, the DfT has announced.

Councils’ proposals will have to be approved by the secretary of state for transport. The DfT will issue guidance this autumn and the first schemes could commence by the end of 2019.
