Opposition grows to Birmingham bus stop closures

Transport for the West Midlands is being urged to cut short its six-month trial closure of Birmingham bus stops, amid complaints of difficulties for people with limited mobility.

The trial closure of 59 stops began on 1 October in an attempt to speed up bus journeys. TfWM’s access standard specifies that people should have a bus stop within 400 metres of their home, but on some bus corridors stops are only 130 metres apart.
