Sturgeon doubles spend on active travel

The scottish Government is to double investment in walking and cycling to £80m a year from 2018/19, Scotland’s first minister Nicola Sturgeon (pictured) has announced.

The SNP administration’s programme for 2017/18 signals a major push on environmental transport issues. 

It sets a target to phase out new petrol and diesel cars and vans by 2032, eight years before the rest of the UK. This will require a big expansion of Scotland’s electric vehicle charging...
