Welsh rail franchise bidders stay in game

Despite the turmoil affecting the procurement of the next Wales and Borders rail franchise (LTT-18 Aug), all 11 companies bidding for the work are still committed to taking part in the process, the Welsh Government has said.

Welsh infrastructure minister Ken Skates voiced concerns about the procurement in a letter to transport secretary Chris Grayling on 20 July, after the DfT delayed the invitation to tender for the 15-year contract to 26 September.
