Brisk walk ‘can boost health’

Four out of ten adults aged 40-60 walk less than ten minutes continuously each month at a brisk pace, according to Public Health England (PHE).

In a new report extolling the health benefits of walking, PHE notes that walking levels have declined over recent decades.

“Although the evidence for ten minute bouts of walking is limited, it is clear that 70-90 minutes per week of brisk walking [more than 3mph] can improve fitness,” it says.
