A cycle taxi service has been launched in the London Borough of Hackney, providing a free service for the elderly and people with mobility difficulties. The Ride Side by Side scheme is run by Cycle Training UK, and funded by Hackney, Transport for London and the DfT. It uses custom-built four-wheeled vehicles.
