New permit plan for West Midlands roads

The West Midlands Combined Authority has decided not to implement its own permitting system for managing roadworks on the conurbation’s 592km Key Route Network (KRN). Instead, it will rely on the seven metropolitan district councils implementing their own schemes, at least for the time being. 

Permitting powers give authorities more control over  roadworks than the alternative noticing system, helping to minimise traffic disruption.
