Uber and other app-based ride services have led to a big increase in road traffic in New York and appear to be attracting passengers away from public transport and taxis, according to a new report.
The analysis by Bruce Schaller, of Schaller Consulting, says that Uber and other app-based ride services – he describes them as transportation network companies (TNCs) – caused a net increase of 600 million vehicle miles over three years.
